Celebration of Life

Dare to C.A.R.E. (DTC) commemorated the lives saved from early detection vascular screenings in its first annual DTC Celebration of Life Gala, held on Friday, October 29, 2004. About 200 people attended the event, consisting of doctors, industry and legislative leaders, friends, and DTC volunteers and participants. The semi-formal event was held at the Chartwell Country Club in Severna Park, MD and included live music by Liquid Pleasure as well as a raffle for tickets to a concert in New York City featuring Doobie Brothers, Taj Mahal, Patti LaBelle and more.

DTC partnered with the Boomer Coalition, a foundation devoted to spreading awareness of the

significance of cardiovascular disease, to provide a pledge contest to win a cruise to the Western Caribbean on Costa Cruises Costa Atlantica. A good time was had by all, and DTC thanks the over $17,000 worth of sponsorships, the Boomer Coalition for their generous concert and cruise tickets donations, and all who

attended the event.

Fall Lecture/Screening Workshops

Despite a huge thunderstorm, 56 people made it out to the September 28th lecture this past year. The lecture was held at The Key School in Annapolis, MD, and the weather was fortunately more favorable for the screening held in the evening on the 29th of September in the Sajak Pavilion, with over 80 participants attending.

On Wednesday, November 3rd and Thursday, November 4th, DTC wrapped up its workshop series for the year, holding the lecture at The St. Anne’s Day School in Annapolis, MD and the screening at the Sajak Pavilion. Once again, a similar number of people attended the screening, and about 50% of some disease was detected in the participants from both events. DTC thanks the sponsors and volunteers who attended and helped out to make the workshop series a success.
